Dorsett Melbourne is celebrating International Dog Day (Tuesday 26 August) with a paw-sitively adorable twist - the launch of its ‘Doggy Doppelgänger’ competition on Instagram.
The playful campaign taps into a curious but scientifically accurate trend: people often choose dogs that resemble them, both in looks and personality.
Recent studies in Australia have found that in 64% of cases, people could accurately match owners with their purebred dogs, suggesting that resemblance isn’t just imagined. A separate review of over 15 global studies revealed that up to 80% of dog–owner duos share physical or behavioural traits.
Now, Dorsett Melbourne is putting it to the test with an open call for humans who look like their hounds.
The Prize Pack (valued at $2,000+) includes:
A 2-night ‘Holidays for Hounds’ stay at Dorsett Melbourne
Luxury pet inclusions: a Snooza dog bed, Pottery Barn food and water bowls, and gourmet meals by Chadwick Nutrition
A customised collar, harness and leash set from Dog Friendly Co.
Plus: Free Pablo & Co. doggie donuts for four-legged hotel guests and walk-up visitors at Little Jin Café on International Dog Day, available 7:00 AM – 12:30 PM
