12 June 2025

We’re excited to announce the release of the 2024 Animal Health in Australia (AHiA) Annual Report — your annual summary of key achievements, disease investigations, surveillance activities and updates to policies and programs in Australia’s animal health system.

Report highlights

  • Strengthening national preparedness — detailed accounts of national exercises like Exercise Volare, FlyWheel and Black Tiger, aimed at testing and improving Australia’s national preparedness and response capabilities.

  • Advancing national animal health initiatives — information on the launch of the National Biosecurity Strategy Action Plan and progress on the Animalplan 2022-27 and AQUAPLAN 2022-27

  • Advancing One Health to strengthen public health and disease control — insights into Australia’s Animal Antimicrobial Resistance Action Plan and establishment of the interim Australian Centre for Disease Control.

The report also examines the status and initiatives in aquatic animal health, including targeted surveillance programs and disease status updates.

AHiA is a collaboration between Animal Health Australia and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry with input from many stakeholders across the sector.
